Baird's Resignation Affects Windsor Hum

The resignation of Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird could further delay answers on the Windsor Hum.

Brian Masse says it will mean educating a new minister on the file. "There's been changes of the minister in the past, and it's taken too long," he says. "But we'll be moving forward with a couple of different venues."

Masse refused to say what avenues may be open saying he hopes to make it public soon.

Residents in West Windsor and LaSalle are still looking for answers after a federal study confirmed the hum's existence and estimated its source was somewhere on Zug Island in the Detroit River. Foreign Affairs officials met with officials from U.S. Steel last August.

In the meantime, residents continue to complain about the low vibration frequency that they say is disrupting their quality of life.

Masse, who also worked with Baird on the new border crossing between Windsor and Detroit, says the resignation came as a surprise on Parliament Hill.
