After two days of the skies rocking and rolling, residents are checking out the damage caused by storms that hit Windsor-Essex.
The region was hit Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning with at least two severe storm systems. Another severe storm system passed through the region late Thursday afternoon.
A yellow severe thunderstorm warning was issued shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday. That was cancelled about 90 minutes later.
Environment Canada says weather that could produce a tornado could affect Windsor-Essex. Shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, there were unconfirmed reports of damage in the Town of Essex and southern part of Tecumseh.
Residents across the City of Windsor and the county reported downed tree branches and hydro lines following Wednesday night's storms.
Photos sent to the WindsorNewsToday.ca newsroom show tree damage in neighbourhoods, mainly in east Windsor.
One woman in Forest Glade told WindsorNewsToday.ca that she had concerns about a tree on her block that gave way early Thursday.
"I called in a couple of times along with my husband, and they said they're going to come," the woman said. "I was mentioning that kids would be going to school, someone may get hurt, but nothing happened."
The first day of the Harrow Fair was on Thursday in Essex. Blackburn Media Windsor's Summer Patrol staff were on hand to witness storm damage there.
Checking in with the local hydro companies, EnWin reported 2,200 customers in the City of Windsor without power at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Essex Power reported at least 4,400 customers without hydro, primarily in LaSalle and Amherstburg.
Among Hydro One's Windsor-Essex customers, there were over 5,500 people without power as of 7 p.m.
