10 Rural Ontario Charities Get Monsanto Cash

Agricultural Societies in Teeswater and Listowel are among those benefitting from Monsanto's Canada's Farmers Grow Communities Program this year.

The program provides grants to charities in small towns across Cananda.

The charities are nominated by local farmers.

Each gets 25 hundred dollars.

66 of those grants were handed out this year - 10 of them to recipients in Ontario.

That's out of over 430 nominations.

The Teeswater Agricultural Society was nomianted by Peter VanZeeland.

The Listowel Agricultural Society was nominated by Marilyn Whaley.

The Royal Canadian Legion's Ripley Branch is also receiving a grant from the program this year.

It was nominated by Bruce Scott of Lucknow.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
