Snow squalls possible to start the week
5 hours agoEnvironment Canada is warning drivers that travel may be dangerous, noting visibility may suddenly be reduced to near zero at times.
Accumulating snow likely today. What: Snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 cm. When: Continuing until this evening. Additional information: Precipitation may begin as rain before changing to snow this morning. Given that ground temperatures are still fairly warm, accumulations may be limited on some surfaces such as major highways and roadways. Motorists should expect difficult winter driving conditions. Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Note that for areas near Lake Huron, a snow squall watch is also in effect. Refer to it for more information. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm.
Snow squalls late tonight through Tuesday morning. What: Heavy lake effect snow. Total amounts of 15 to 30 cm, with locally significantly higher amounts possible. Locally reduced visibility in blowing snow. When: Late tonight through Tuesday morning. Additional information: Lake effect snow off Lake Huron is expected to begin impacting Lambton County tonight and possibly locations near the eastern shore of Lake Huron on Monday morning. Snow squalls may extend towards Lake Erie as well at times. Northerly winds are expected to become northwesterly late Monday into early Tuesday. As a result, lake effect snow will impact areas to the east and southeast of Lake Huron. There is a potential for very heavy accumulations and intense snowfall rates Monday night into Tuesday morning, particularly if lake effect bands become stationary. Lake effect snow is expected to taper in intensity by Tuesday afternoon. ### Travel may be hazardous. Visibility may be suddenly reduced to near zero at times. Roads and walkways may be difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ONstorm@ec.gc.ca or post reports on X using #ONStorm.
