Manual To Help Boost Goat Industry Profitability

A new Best Management Practices manual is now available for Ontario milk, meat and fibre goat farmers.

It was developed by a committee of producers, veterinarians, researchers and government representatives.

It includes recommendations for housing, nutrition, health, breeding protocols, biosecurity and record-keeping.

Ontario Goat President Anton Slingerland says the manual can help producers have a positive impact on herd health, food safety and biosecurity.

He says that can both increase the profitability of the industry and help it continue to expand.

All Ontario Goat members will be getting copies of the manual in the mail.

Non-members can buy a copy for 50 dollars, which includes the cost of shipping.

More information is available from Ontario goat - the email is info@livestockalliance.ca.
