Royal's 10-Day Run Kicks Off Today In Toronto

The first 1 thousand visitors through the doors on today's opening day at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair will get a special treat.

They'll be getting complimentary butter tarts.

It's in honour of a new feature at the Royal this year - the Butter Tart Competition.

The best butter tarts from a number of regional fairs this past summer and fall have been invited to compete for the title of the Grand Champion Butter Tart.

The winner will be named on Wednesday, November 12th.

Other opening day events include the Queen's Guineas Show and Sale and the Ontario Junior Barrow Show.

The Canadian Young Speakers for Agriculture and the provincial 4-H Go For The Gold competitions are among Saturday's agricultural events.

The new Masterfeeds Supreme Beef Champions will be named Sunday.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
