American Farmers Catch Up To 5 Year Averages

U-S farmers are close to their five-year average in corn and soybean harvesting and winter wheat planting.

The USDA says 80 per cent of the corn is off - 1 point better than the average.

Soybeans are 2 points behind the average at 94 per cent harvested.

And 95 per cent of the winter wheat has been planted against the 97 per cent five year average.

The department says 87 per cent of that wheat has emerged, 3 points ahead of the average.

And the condition of the U-S winter wheat crop is 60 per cent good to excellent - same as last week - 3 points behind last year.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
