Ontario Maple Production Down From 2013

The production of maple products in Canada fell by about 6 per cent this year.

However, while the total volume was down from last year, it was still the second highest amount nationally in the past five years.

Statistics Canada says production in Ontario fell by 17 per cent, making it the third-highest production total for the province in the past five years.

Ontario produced almost 4 percent of the country's maple products this year.

Quebec, which produces over 90 per cent of the country's maple products, saw a 5 per cent drop this year.

The gross value of Canadian maple products last year was almost 380 million dollars, down 7 per cent.

Ontario's production value slipped 16 per cent to just under 26 million dollars.
