Ontario, Quebec Push For CETA Dairy Compensation

Ontario and Quebec agriculture ministers plan to continue to push the federal government to compensate the dairy sector for the impact of CETA.

Ontario's Jeff Leal and Quebec's Pierre Paradis met recently in Toronto.

They want Ottawa to clarify it's intention regarding allocation of new cheese import quotas.

They're calling on the federal government to give priority to parties that are impacted by the European free trade deal while enhancing the growth of the cheese sector.

The Ontario and Quebec agriculture ministers also talked about demonstrating government and industry leadership in responding to expectations around a number of things - including consumers' right to know, animal welfare and bee health.
