Goat Producers Advised Of Biosecurity Concerns

The guest speaker at a bio-security workshop in Stratford for goat producers says PED may not be a threat to goat producers, but it has certainly reminded them that there are diseases out there that can be devastating for them and their herds.

Doctor Tom Veens from the Heartland Veterinary Services in Listowel says many producers already incorporate good bio-security security practices into their operation, but others need a little reminding.

The workshop was all about providing that reminder and encouraging producers to be careful about where they get their animals from, what they do with them when they come onto their farm, and to closely monitor who comes onto their farm and into their barns.
