Canadian, Ontario Honey Production Up In 2014

2014 appears to have been a good year for Canadian honey producers.

Statistics Canada says there were more beekeepers and more colonies in the country last year than at any time since 2010.

The same was true in Ontario.

The agency says Canadian honey production in 2014 was up about five million pounds to 81 point 5 million.

The value of that production was up 20 million dollars from 2013 at 201 point 6 million dollars.

Here in Ontario, honey production was up about 2 million pounds to 8.1 million.

The value of Ontario honey production in 2014 was 30 point 3 million dollars - up about 10 million from 2013.
