New Advanced Payments Program Cattle Rates

Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada has boosted the rates for cattle under the Advanced Payments Program.

The new rates better reflect what's going on in the marketplace.

They range from 759 dollars a head for feeder calves 400-700 pounds up to 1151.50 per head for finished cattle over 1250 pounds.

The program gives cattle producers access to up to 400 thousand dollars in advances per production period.

The first 100 thousand is interest free, the rest is at the prime rate.

The idea is to provide producers with improved cash flow throughout the year.

Any producer who has already applied in the 2014 program year may be eligible for additional funds using the new rates.

Beef Farmers of Ontario is encouraging producers to contact the Agricultural Credit Corporation for more information.
