Restaurant Group Wants Ontario Chicken COP Formula Made Public

The Canadian restaurant industry's lobby group is taking another shot at the Ontario chicken sector.

Restaurants Canada Vice President for Ontario, James Rilett, has released an open letter to the Premier on chicken prices.

The letter argues producers have full control over the price but refuse to divulge their pricing formula.

In the letter, Rilett calls for the immediate publication of the current cost formula for production of Ontario chicken.

It wants any revisions to the existing price formula to be conducted in what the organisation calls 'the open daylight'.

Restaurants Canada also wants an independent third party designated to complete the price review process.

Rilett argues interested stakeholders, such as Chicken Farmers of Ontario and Restaurants Canada, could then intervene in the process in an open forum.
