Slight Increase In U-S Cattle On Feed Numbers

The USDA is reporting a 1 per cent increase in the number of cattle and calves on feed in the 'States compared to a year ago.

The department's latest Cattle On Feed report puts the number at 10 point 9 million head, as of December 1st.

There were 1 point 79 million placements in feedlots in November - about 4 per cent fewer than in 2013.

The USDA says that's the second lowest placements for November since at least 1996.

Marketings of fed cattle in the U-S in November totalled 1 point 48 million - 11 per cent fewer than in 2013.

That's also the lowest November figure since at least 1996.
