Ontario's Confirmed PED Count Hits 69

A Waterloo Region hog operation has Ontario's 69th confirmed PED diagnosis.

This latest diagnosis was confirmed December 23rd - about a week after another Waterloo Region operation had it's PED status confirmed.

The province's confirmed PED count was steady at 63 from mid-July until November 12th, when the disease started to show up again.

Since then we've had 6 confirmed diagnosis locations.

While PED can be fatal for young pigs, it is not considered a threat to food safety or to human health.
