Goat Group Trying To Convince Bankers Sector Is Viable

Goat meat and dairy products are growing in popularity in Ontario and across the country.

Speaking at Grey Bruce Farmers Week in Elmwood, Ontario Goat official Kendra Keels says the popularity of goat products is such that they're having trouble meeting the demand, especially for goat meat.

"Typically it's the ethnic markets that are looking for goat meat but even just regular beef and chicken consumers are starting look at goat meat because it is so much healthier. It's low in fat and high in protein."

Keels says more young farmers are wanting to get into goat production.

The problem is financing.

Keels says Ontario Goat is trying to educate bankers that it's a viable business.
