U-S Meat Production Estimates Boosted

The USDA has raised it's total U-S meat production estimates for both 2014 and 2015.

The department says it raised it's 2014 production estimate based on higher pork and broiler production than had been forecast in December.

The 2015 increase is based on what the USDA now expects to be higher beef and pork production for the year.

The department's cattle and hog price forecasts for 2015 are reduced from last month.

It now expects steers to average from 150 to 171 dollars per hundredweight this year.

That's down a dollar.

The projected U-S barrow and gilt price for this year has been dropped by 3 dollars to from 60 to 65 dollars per hundredweight.
