Federal Money For Canola Market Access Development

The President of the Canola Council of Canada calls it a significant investment in canola market access and development.

Patti Miller says that with 90 per cent of Canada's canola production destined for world markets, those activities are an integral part of boosting canola's value and ensuring industry growth.

The federal government is investing up to 9 point 5 million dollars in the Canola Council of Canada for those efforts.

That includes money for market research and the development of international and domestic strategic partnerships.

The Canadian canola industry contributes over 19 point 3 million dollars a year to the Canadian economy.

It supports an estimated almost 249 thousand jobs.

Canada is one of the world's largest producers and exporters of canola.
