Provincial Award For Huron County Agronomist

A provincial honour for a Huron County crop advisor.

Steve Johns was presented with the 2014 Award of Excellence at the Certified Crop Advisors Conference and Annual meeting earlier this month in London.

Johns has been involved in agriculture for over 30 years.

The University of Guelph grad is currently working for Syngenta Canada as an agronomist.

He was a member of the initial steering committee which became the first Board of Directors for the Ontario CCA program.

Steve Johns is currently a director of the Huron County Federation of Agriculture, a past board member of the Innovative Farmers and is involved with the Soil and Crop Improvement Associations in Huron, Middlesex and Perth Counties.

Other nominees for the 2014 award were Mervyn Erb of Agri-Solve Incorporated, Mike Wilson of Thompsons and Chris Snip and Kent Wolfe, who both work for Agris.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
