Agriculture GDP Down Year Over Year

The Canadian agriculture and forestry sector bucked the month-to-month trend in Gross Domestic Product numbers in November.

Statistics Canada says the overall GDP went down by 0.2 per cent in November from October.  The agriculture and forestry sector went up 0.8 per cent.  Statscan says that's mainly the result of higher crop production.

The year-to-year numbers tell a different story.  The overall national GDP was up 1.9 per cent from November 2013 to November 2014.

However, the agriculture and forestry sector's GDP was down 8.8 per cent over that same 12 month period.
