New Soybean Processing Facility In Hensall

35 members of the Huron Manufacturing Association and other guests were invited to a demonstration of Hensall Co-op's new Soybean Processing facility in Hensall.

Production Manager Win Karelse explains they are still working out the kinks in the new 99,000 square foot facility.

He says one of the challenges they are facing is finding people with the skills they need to work in the new facility.

The warehouse and loading area is very clean and modern and quiet because the five fork-lift trucks driving around the building are all electric.  It takes a few minutes to realize that none of them have drivers.  Karelse explains they're all fully automated and pick up skids and load them for the next day's shipping on their own.

He adds the fork lifts even sense when their batteries are low and move over to the battery storage area, put themselves in position and install a new battery.

Karelse says it is still early but so far everything is working out well.
