U-S Hog Inventory, Farrowing Intentions Up

The U-S hog inventory was up 7 per cent from a year ago.

The USDA says there were 65 point 9 million hogs and pigs on U-S farms on March 1st.

Breeding inventory was up 2 per cent while market hog inventory was up 8 per cent from last year.

The December to February pig crop, at just under 30 million head, was up 9 per cent from 2014.

According to the USDA, American hog producers intend to boost the number of sows farrowing in the March to May quarter by 2 per cent over the actual farrowings in that quarter last year.

Intended U-S farrowings for the June to August quarter at down 2 per cent from last year.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
