Big Year For Perth, Huron Junior Farmers

The Perth County Junior Farmers had a big weekend last weekend.

They were named provincial Club of the Year at the Junior Farmers Association of Ontario annual conference.

The club also took awards for Best Traditional Scrapbook and Best New Fundraising Idea.

Perth's Jason Folllings won Novice Member of the Year.

Courtney Steven from Perth won a travel exchange to Switzerland.

A Huron County Junior Farmer - Becky Aikens - won a travel exchange to Ireland from the provincial organisation.

Perth Junior Farmers spokesman Joe White says they also picked up Club of the Year honours.

White says they've made some changes that have helped the Perth County group grow to 24 active members.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
