Feds Want More Small To Medium AgriFood Companies To Export

(story updated to correct number of companies represented)

The federal government is investing money to help the Canadian food processing industry gain and maintain access to new international markets.

The 2 point 1 million dollars is going to the Canadian Food Exporters Association.

It represents 300 companies in the food and beverage industry.

The money will be used to help the association attend international food trade shows, lead outgoing missions in key markets and organize in-store food promotions in the Middle East.

The goal is to increase the number of small to medium-sized Canadian food, beverage and ingredient companies that export their products.

The food and beverage processing industry is the largest manufacturing sector in Canada, with close to 62 hundred food and processing establishments across the country.
