2015 Ontario Maple Syrup Season Fast And Furious

Fast and furious is not just the name of a series of movies.

Ray Bonenberg uses the term to describe this year's maple syrup season in Ontario.

Bonenberg is President of the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers.

He says the season in Southern Ontario is pretty well finished now - after about 3 solid weeks of production.

Bonenberg is happy with the taste of this year's product, saying the cool weather has helped with that.

Most Ontario producers focus on the provincial market, with demand here exceeding what they are able to produce.

Bonenberg says the industry is also trying to make inroads into other areas, trying to replace other sweeteners in people's diets.

Bonenberg says the industry is also trying to move into areas beyond the product's typical market.
