U-S Corn Planting Continues Slower Than Usual

U-S farmers are running ahead of average with their spring wheat planting but behind with their corn.

The USDA's weekly Crop Progress Report says they have 9 per cent of their corn crop planted.

The five-year average for this time of the year is 13 per cent.

The department says 36 per cent of the spring wheat has been planted - almost double the 19 per cent five year average.

No soybean planting reported yet.

And 42 per cent of the U-S winter wheat crop is rated good to excellent.

That's the same as last week and 8 points better than at this time last year.
