Avian Influenza Concerns Postpone Breakfast On The Farm

First it was the cancellation of the London Poultry Show.

Now, the Breakfast On The Farm event scheduled for June has been postponed because of the recent cases of Avian Influenza in Oxford County.

The June 6th event had been scheduled for the Veldman family poultry farm near Embro.

While Breakfast On The Farm offers a significant outreach opportunity for the province's farm community, organisers decided the risk to the poultry industry outweighs any potential benefits.

Sue McLarty is Special Events Manager for Farm & Food Care Ontario.

She says they look forward to rescheduling once the risk of Avian Influenza no longer exists.

Almost 900 tickets had already been reserved for the Oxford county event.

Organizers say those people will be notified of the new date when the Breakfast On The Farm event is rescheduled.
