U-S Corn Planting Moving Ahead, Soybeans Started

U-S corn growers have 19 per cent of their crop in the ground.

That's 6 points behind the five year average of 25 per cent by this time of the year.

Soybean planting has begun in the U-S, with 2 per cent of the crop planted.

The USDA says that's about half the 4 per cent five year average.

55 per cent of the U-S spring wheat is planted - 26 points better than the five year average.

And the department reports 42 per cent of the winter wheat crop is currently rated good to excellent - same as last week and 9 points better than a year ago.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
