Ethanol Plant Switching Ontario Corn Supplier

Thompsons Limited is taking over from Cargill as the source for local corn for the IGPC ethanol plant in Aylmer.

IGPC Ethanol CEO Jim Grey says that's no reflection on Cargill, which had been sourcing local corn for the plant since 2007.

Grey says the company feels Thompsons will be able to support the strategic initiatives IGPC will be undertaking in the future.

Thompsons will now start purchasing local corn for October 1st deliveries and beyond.

Cargill will continue to buy and deliver corn for IGPC until the end of September.

That Aylmer plant could use up to 18 million bushels of corn from local farmers as feedstock for ethanol production.
