Meat Processors Group Re-Elects Van Groningen As President

The Ontario Independent Meat Processors has elected it's new executive.

Cory Van Groningen of VG Meats, Simcoe, is back as President.

Carol Goriup of Florence Meats, Oakville, is Vice President with Christine Hobson of Halenda's Fine Foods, Oshawa, as Secretary Treasurer.

Joe Abate of Abate Packers in Arthur rounds out the executive as Past President.

Returning boar members are Shannon Desborough of Finest Sausage and Meats in Kitchener, Marc Oliver of Sargent Farms, Milton and Brenda Reinhardt of Sprucedale Quality Meats.

The Ontario Independent Meat Processors has two new directors - Kevin Stemmler of Stemmler Meats in Heidelberg and Kevin Schinkel of Schinkel's Legacy in Chatham.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
