U-S Corn Crop 85 Per Cent Planted

U-S corn and soybean growers continue to run ahead of average with this spring's plantings.

Corn is 85 per cent done, 10 points ahead of the five year average.

Soybeans are 45 per cent planted - 9 points better than the average.

The USDA's latest Crop Progress report has 94 per cent of the spring wheat planted - 29 points better than the average.

The department has issued it's first condition report for spring wheat - putting it 65 per cent good to excellent.

The U-S winter wheat crop is now 45 per cent good to excellent - 1 point better than last week - 16 points better than last year at this time.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
