Two Beekeepers' Group Reps Added To Pesticide Advisory Group

The Ontario Pesticides Advisory Committee has two new members.

Both are from the Ontario Beekeepers Association - President Tibor Szabo and board member Jim Wilson.

That makes a total of 17 members on the committee, chaired by former OMAFRA Deputy Minister Frank Ingratta.

Several of those members are government employees.

Several others have agricultural connections, including Catherine McKay, Craig Hunter and Doctor Allan Stewart.

McKay is an integrated pest management consultant.

Hunter chairs the Advisory Committee for the Pesticide Education Program for Growers and Venders.

Doctor Stewart was a weed scientist at the federal government's Greenhouse and Processing Crops Research Centre in Harrow.

The Ontario Pesticides Advisory Committee reviews the content and operation of the Pesticides Act and its regulations.

Its mandate includes making recommendations on the classification of all new federally registered pest control products prior to their sale and use in Ontario.
