U-S Growers Staying Ahead Of Planting Averages

U-S corn producers got another 10 per cent of their crop planted last week.

They're now 85 per cent completed.

The USDA says the five year average for this time of the year is 75 per cent.

Soybean growers are also ahead of the average with 45 per cent of the crop planted against the 36 per cent average.

94 per cent of the U-S spring wheat crop is planted - 29 points better than the average.

The department says 65 per cent of that crop is rated good to excellent.

45 per cent of the U-S winter wheat is good to excellent - up a point from last week, 16 points better than last year.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
