New Dairy Facility To Host Collaborative Research Projects

The President of the University of Guelph calls it a world-class facility that puts Ontario at the forefront of innovation and technology development for tomorrow.

Franco Vaccarino's comments were just part of yesterday's official grand opening of the new dairy research facility at Elora.

The 25 million dollar facility is described as a multi-discipline centre.

That means industry stakeholders as well as staff and students from Canadian universities will be able to work there together on dairy-related research projects.

Dairy Farmers of Ontario Chair Ralph Dietrich says it represents a firm commitment to collaborative research with the sector's industry, government and university partners.

The facility is a joint initiative of the Agricultural Research Institute of Ontario, the University of Guelph and the Ontario dairy industry.

The Ontario government put 20 million dollars into the project.
