May Frost Widespread

It appears the May 23 frost was more widespread and caused more damage than originally estimated.

The latest meeting of Central Ontario Crop consultants reported York, Norfolk , Peel, Halton and Dufferin areas were hit hardest. Provincial estimates put corn replanting because of frost damage at 1 per cent of the acreage, 3 per cent for soybeans.

The consultants estimate the overall acres of soybeans and corn to be replanted this year will be similar to other years.

The only difference is that this year, it all happened following one big frost.
