Ontario's 12th PED Case For 2014 In Wellington County

Ontario has it's first confirmed case of PED in almost a month.

A Wellington County nursery operation was confirmed June 4th.

It's the 12th case in the province this year - a big difference from the rash of confirmed cases reported last year.

There were 4 confirmed sites in January, 3 in February, 2 in March, and now 1 each in April, May and June.

The virus generally backs-off during the warmer weather.

While usually fatal for young pigs, PED is not considered a threat to food safety or to human health.
