HDC GM Inducted Into Ag Hall Of Fame

Earl Wagner of Exeter was inducted into the Ontario Agricultural Hall of Fame in Milton on Sunday.

Wagner has worked for the Hensall District Co-op for 51 years, starting in 1964 as a sales clerk and rising to become General Manager in 1979.

He deflects most of the credit for his success to the philosophy of the company as a farmer-owned operation.

Wagner says answering to a board of directors made up of farmers gives him the luxury of viewing projects over a long-term rather than having to produce immediate results for shareholders.

Wagner adds he believes that philosophy has allowed the Hensall District Co-op to compete successfully with some the larger players in the field.
