New Sheep Assurance Program To Be Easier For Producers To Follow

The Canadian Sheep Federation is getting some federal dollars to combine a couple of sheep and lamb production assurance systems.

The money will help integrate the National Sheep Biosecurity Standard and the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Sheep into the nationally-recognized Food Safe Farm Practices program.

Canadian Sheep Federation Chair Phil Kolodychuk says that's going to create an all-encompassing assurance program that's easy for producers to follow and that allows farms to be recognised for their efforts.

The federal government is investing just over 348 thousand dollars in that project.

The funding was announced late last week on a farm near Wallenstein.
