Ag-Related Research Among U of G Projects Getting Ontario Funding

Some of the money going to University of Guelph research will be going to agriculture-related projects.

The University's Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre is getting just over 3 million for work on bio-based materials for use in auto parts, packaging and consumer products.

Another 1 million dollars will go towards improving agro-ecosystems under climate change.

The money will help fund a new controlled environment facility at the University of Guelph to study soils year-round.

And Tina Widowski of the University's Department of Animal and POUltry Science is getting almost 116 thousand dollars for her project on animal welfare assessment.

A total of 16 research projects at the University of Guelph are sharing in more than 10 point 6 million dollars in research funding from the provincial government.
