Expanding Key Markets For Growing Canadian Soybean Production

Federal figures suggest soybeans are now the 4th largest crop by acreage in Canada.

Soy Canada's Jim Everson says the industry is looking to develop new markets and expand existing ones.

Everson is welcoming an investment of just over 358 thousand dollars from the federal government to his organisation.

The money will be used to implement a market development strategy, attend international trade shows and lead missions to raise awareness of Canadian soybeans.

Those efforts will be concentrated on expanding key markets in China, the U-S, Korea, Japan and Europe.

Canada is the world's 5th largest exporter of soybeans with sales to over 55 countries in 2014.
