U-S Beef Production Down 7% In May

Commercial red meat production in the U-S in May was down 4 per cent from a year ago.

The USDA reports beef production was down 7 per cent, veal down 16 per cent, lamb and mutton down 14 per cent and pork production up slightly from May of 2014.

Total U-S cattle slaughter in May was down 10 per cent from a year ago, hog slaughter was up 1 per cent.

So far this year, U-S commercial red meat production is up slightly from 2014 figures.

Accumulated beef production is down 5 per cent while pork production is up 6 per cent so far this year compared to the same time last year.

The USDA says veal production is down 22 per cent while lamb and mutton production is down 5 per cent.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
