PED Battle Earns Perth County Vet National Award

A Perth County veterinarian has received a national award for his work battling PED.

Doctor Doug MacDougald received this year's Merck Veterinary Award from the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association.

Doctor MacDougald is a founding partner in South West Ontario Veterinary Services.

The CVMA's other award recipients this year included Doctor Timothy Blackwell.

He received the Association's Humane Award for his decades of advocacy work calling for swine systems and husbandry practices that improve the welfare of pigs.

Doctor Blackwell is currently Leaf Veterinarian, Disease Prevention-Swine, with OMAFRA.

The awards were handed out at the recent Canadian Veterinary Medical Association annual convention in Calgary.
