Wellington County Farmer Fined For Marketing 'Fallen Animal'

A Mount Forest man has pled guilty for violating the provincial Food Safety and Quality Act.

Earlier this month, Amos Martin shipped a cull cow to the Ontario Livestock Exchange in Waterloo.

An OMAFRA appointed vet deemed the cow to be a fallen animal.

That means an animal that has been disabled by disease, emaciation or another condition that is likely to cause it's death.

Martin was fined a total of 1,880 dollars.
