Cattlemen's Groups Call For Comprehensive, Trade-Liberalizing TPP

The Canadian Cattlemen's Association has joined with beef groups from four other countries in calling for a comprehensive, trade-liberalizing Trans Pacific Partnership deal.

The other groups in the so called Five Nations Beef Alliance are from New Zealand, Australia, Mexico and the U-S.

All five of those countries are involved in the TPP negotiations.

The Alliance argues a good TPP deal could provide beef farmers, processors and exporters with new opportunities across much of the Asia-Pacific region.

For it to be a good deal, the cattle groups say it needs to ensure that beef producers and their supply chain partners can reap the maximum benefits of the envisaged tariff cuts.
