DFO Special Quota Program Attracts New Organic Milk Producers

Ontario is going to have 4 more organic milk producers in the near future.

The 4 were selected to take part in Dairy Farmers of Ontario's special Organic New Entrant Quota Assistance Program.

That one-time only program was set up to help increase the province's organic milk supply.

The first exchange available for them to purchase quotas is September.

They then have 16 months to start shipping organic milk.

A lack of enough raw organic milk was cited by the Organic Meadow Dairy in it's financial problems.

Organic Meadow representatives will meet with their creditors later this month to seek approval for their proposal to move out of creditor protection.
