Introducing Lean Production Philosophy To Agriculture

The Agri-food Management Institute wants to bring something that's renowned in the auto manufacturing sector to agriculture.

It's called the Lean production philosophy - dubbed agLean for AMI's purposes.

Rob Hannam says it's a set of five steps that can apply to any process, whether it's manufacturing, business on on-farm.

Hannam is the program coordinator.

AMI's agLean Master Class will show farmers how those principles can be successfully applied to farm operations to identify and eliminate the root causes of waste that are often overlooked.

That class runs for four-days spread out over four months, kicking off in September in St. Jacobs.
