Ontario Fed Cattle Prices Down

Ontario fed cattle marketings and prices were down last week.

Volume was down 55 on the week and down 5 from a year ago. The average fed steer price was down over $3 while the average fed heifer price was down just over$2.50. Both were still higher than a year ago - steers by over $19 and heifers by over $25.

Beef Farmers of Ontario reports over 2,200 cull cows were sold in the province last week. That's almost 200 fewer than the week before but almost 270 more than last year.

The average price was up 34-cents on the week and $10.70 on the year.

The almost 2,800 replacement cattle sold last week was down almost 380 from the previous week and about 390 fewer than last year.

BFO says prices on calves were steady to fully steady with heavier weights running steady.
