Clifford, Walton Plowmen 2nd And 3rd In National Competition

A strong Midwestern Ontario showing at this year's Canadian Plowing Championships.

Carmen Weppler from Clifford finished second in the Senior Conventional Category.

Walton's Brian McGavin was third.

The top-placed finisher was Brandon McGavin - Brian's son - who was representing Alberta in the competition.

Midwestern Ontario competitors took first and third in the Junior Conventional plowing.

Jay Lennox of Ayton was first - Valeri Monk of Elmwood third.

Bob Campsall of Oshawa finished first in the Reversible plow category.

Brandon McGavin and Bob Campsall will represent Canada in the World Plowing Championships next year in England.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

As part of a partnership between the Sarnia Legion Branch 62 and City of Sarnia, an unveiling ceremony will be held at the corner of Christina Street and Wellington Street on Sunday, June 7, at 2 p.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
