Country's Biggest Oilseed Processing Plant Changing Hands

Saskatchewan-based Viterra is buying the largest oilseed processing plant in Eastern Canada.

The Becancour, Quebec, operation is part of the deal where Viterra is buying the plant's current owner, Twin Rivers Technologies Holdings.

It has a crushing capacity of 1.05 million metric tonnes a year.

It's on the St. Lawrence Seaway, close to Viterra's port facility in Montreal.

The Quebec plant produces vegetable oil for food and industrial markets as well as meal for the livestock industry.

Viterra has operations involved in the handling, processing, distributing and transporting grains and oilseeds across North America.
