Perth Farm Incident A Farm Safety Reminder

A chilling reminder of the importance of farm safety - especially at harvest time.

An 8 year old boy is in a London hospital with what police are calling life-altering injuries after an on-farm incident last Friday.

He was apparently caught up in the front head of a harvester being used to harvest corn for silage.

Perth OPP point out a lot of agricultural equipment is large and noisy with moving parts that have the potential to cause serious injury or bodily harm.

They're reminding those operating that equipment to always be aware of their surroundings and follow safe practices, including keeping children away from that equipment.
